Night Shift Sheffield – Dyonisis, The Webb, Jan Doyle Band

ns sheffield 4

Following the huge success of the last event at Mulberry Tavern, we’re back for the fourth Night Shift event in Sheffield, this time featuring:

Formed in 2005, Dyonisis’ sound is a blend of organic and digital, labeled as ‘Ethereal Rock’, incorporating the delightful vulnerability and eccentricity of lead singer Nel. Her husband, Marcus creates rolling bass lines that underpin the shimmering guitars and programmed beats of Tom. The result is as luxurious as it is lacerating.

The Webb

Batcave goth for the 21st century! Ever popular around Yorkshire since their first visit to Doncaster many years ago, their punky goth electro remains as exciting as ever. Taking influences from Numan, Siouxsie and Alien Sex Fiend the result is nothing short of spectacular.

Jan Doyle Band

Prolific Doncaster darkwavers mix up styles from synth pop, punk, goth and industrial into a compulsive dramatic live performance. Described by some as Soft Cell meets The Sisters of Mercy by way of Bauhaus but never easy to pin down and never predictable.

Night Shift Manchester – Zeitgeist Zero, The Webb, Tangerinecat, Jan Doyle Band

ns manchester sm

Zeitgeist Zero

Alt-wave rock and eerie macabre pop, fusing sultry female vocals with dark, twisted electronics and a determined attitude.
This is a place where dance driven alternative rock, electro-goth and fuzzed up psychobilly bed down with seedy art-house eroticism and jazz-era glamour.

Z0 were on the bill for our first ever show where they practically brought the house down with hugely powerful set so we’re really excited to bring them to Manchester for the first time in their 14 years of live shows.

The Webb

Hailing from the Wirral but having made their debut show in Manchester, The Webb have gone from strength to strength ever since. Frequently finding themselves headlining shows in Yorkshire and high on the bill at many a punk festival, they’re always in high demand.

Combining elements of punk, goth and electro with a fabulous Siouxsie like stage presence but with a great sense of fun, the webb are always a treat.

Multi-instrumentalists Zheka and Paul, using field recordings, samples, vocals, hurdy-gurdy & whistles, finely craft Elizabethan Industrial with personal protest lyrics.

Formed in Ukraine in 2008 tAngerinecAt have four albums to date and performed hundreds of shows all over UK and Eastern Europe.

Having hugely impressed us at a show in Salford earlier this year we couldn’t resist asking this most wondrous act to join us for this show. The show is one of huge passion and energy quite unlike anything else we’ve ever seen.

Jan Doyle Band

Making waves all around the country wherever they perform this flamboyant duo from Doncaster are never predictable. Mixing elements of industrial, synthpop and goth with unique results.

Fronted by the spectacular Derek Anthony Williams who provides huge amounts of energy and audience engagement at every show whilst Michael Stokes on keys proves that keyboard playing need not be a static robot like task.

A DJ Afterparty will follow the show playing goth, post punk, new wave, 80s, punk and more..

Night Shift Sheffield – ATTRITION, DEFILE & More tba

ns shef5

One of the original pioneers in dark electronic music joins us for what is remarkably their first ever Sheffield show.

Formed in 1980 in Coventry, England, influenced by a mix of punk ideology and experimental art aesthetics, they emerged as part of the early ’80’s UK Industrial scene alongside contemporaries Coil, Test Department, Legendary Pink Dots, In The Nursery, Portion Control et al.

Founder Martin Bowes has steered the band through a 30 year career, fueled by a succession of critically acclaimed albums…and selling over 60,000 to date.

Martin also runs the famous The Cage Studios which has done mastering and production work for many famous artists including Nine Inch Nails, Die Krupps, and Download.

Frequently playing shows all over Europe, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Asia (Siberia) and recently a fourth tour in Canada, it’s a great honour to give Attrition the debut appearance in Sheffield.

A UK/US collaboration between Julie Thielen and Jan Doyle Band‘s Derek Anthony Williams. Having been a studio only project for 15 years they made their impromptu unbilled stage debut in Sheffield in December last year on Julie’s first ever visit to the UK. This time they’re back to unleash the full power.

DEFILE combine Julie’s sublime poetic spoken word diction with Derek’s love of sonic experimentation to create something quite unlike anything you are ever likely to hear. No two pieces sound the same as they find their way through industrial, shoegaze, ebm, goth and all manner of other exotic and ethereal landscapes.

We’ll also have the same goth/electro/80s/punk DJing afterwards as we had our first event this year.
